Operation method and principle of insulating tape

Time: April 15th at 4:38pm

In the process of using electricity, although people have noticed that the cross-sectional area of power cord materials has an impact on the safe use of electricity, they often do not pay enough attention to the use of insulation tape for joints. The laying of power lines is becoming increasingly complex, including under wooden floors, in walls, in partitions, and in damp underground or underwater environments. If the insulation tape is not used properly, electric leakage will occur, endangering personal safety. So we need to use insulation tape correctly, and the power line joints can be connected using "+", "-", "T", etc. The joint should be tightly wrapped, smooth and free of burrs. Otherwise, before disconnecting the wire head, it should be lightly pressed with a steel wire pliers, then wound to the pressure mouth, and then left and right swing. The wire head will disconnect smoothly at the joint. If the joint is in a dry place, it should be wrapped with 2 layers of insulating black tape first, followed by 2 layers of plastic tape. Then, the insulating self-adhesive tape should be stretched by about 200%, wrapped in 2-3 layers, and finally wrapped in 2 layers of plastic tape.

There are many drawbacks to using plastic tape directly: plastic tape is prone to misalignment and opening over time; When the electrical load is heavy, the joint heats up, and the plastic tape is prone to melting and shrinking; When the power connectors are squeezed against each other inside the junction box and there are burrs on the connectors, it is easy to puncture the plastic tape, etc.

These hidden dangers will directly endanger personal safety, cause circuit short circuits, and cause fires. By using insulating black tape, the above situation will not occur. It has a certain strength and flexibility, and can be tightly wrapped around the joint for a long time. It is compact and shaped under the influence of time and temperature, will not fall off, and is flame retardant. Furthermore, wrapping it with insulating black tape and then wrapping it with plastic tape can prevent moisture and rust.

Of course, insulation self-adhesive tape also has its drawbacks. Although it has good waterproof performance, it is easy to break. Therefore, it is necessary to wrap two layers of plastic tape as a protective layer in the end. The insulation self-adhesive tape of the joint does not stick to each other, resulting in better performance.
